Mount Prospect
 
This suburb, 24 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, has experienced phenomenal population growth. At the beginning of World War I, it was an unincorporated community of fewer than three hundred people. By the start of World War II, the community had some two thousand residents. Today, the population is beyond fifty thousand.

Despite recent industrial growth, Mt. Prospect remains primarily a residential community. It is an affluent suburb with nearly 68 percent of its work force in white-collar occupations.

The Chicago & North Western Railroad makes commuting to the Loop easy. The sprawling Randhurst Shopping Center is a major community asset. The downtown business section has undergone an impressive renovation.
